I'm not trying to say your car is slow, or anything either. But a good driver makes a big difference. Stock SS/SC's and RL's have been driven to 14.2's at the quarter. And most of the RL folk who are still stock would be embarrassed to admit it, lol. Honeslty though, I wish my wife was more into the hobby. She gets real annoyed with my driving, real fast, lol.
Check out www.focaljet.com to see if you can find that guy. A lot of Focus guys are on that site. They don't associate with the ZX2 guys much, never could get over that our cars are cheaper, faster, look better, and don't have recalls like thiers do. lol But, we are jealous of thier aftermarket support. Ford sucks.

Couple years ago we bought my wife a ZX2, 98 5-speed Sport model just like mine, except in metallic flake black. Gave $2000 cash for it with 102,000 miles on it. I gave it a tune up (poor car was neglected by previous owner) and took it to the track the weekend after we bought it. Managed a 16.09 @ 87 mph out of it. Beat the SVT Focus that was at the track. This is about 950 ft above sea-level and over 85% humidity. Racing conditions in the summer suck. She occasionally comes home telling me how she beat a car from a light. Most recently she edged out this V6 Camaro about a 95 model. But, she lost to a GTP before that. Almost convinced her to let me get her a N2O kit after that.

It was really funny when a Vibe GT revved at me last fall. She heard him rev and noticed the light ahead of us turn yellow so we would catch it. She looks at me and goes, "I think I know what is going to happen here!" Light turns green and I just destroy this Vibe GT. She is looking behind us and sees him about two bus lengths behind. I hit 50mph and decide that is enough and she says, "I bet he does a ***** fly-by..... here he comes." I love this woman. He did do a fly-by but waved and honked on his way by. Not everyone gets upset when an Escort beats them.

If he beat you like that he must have been stage two or better. Most of the guys run smaller pulleys.

I have a 2.9" pulley, it probably boosts to 16 psi peak. I have not dynoed but from what other cars do with similar mods I should probably be sitting at 240+whp.

They are pretty much the same car as the Cobalt SS but with much better looks.

A stage two cobalt would probably put up a good fight for you.
HAHAHAHAH... that was a good one.

I simply said it has happened. I didn't say the average driver could do it. You evil Ninja's are always causing trouble for us pirates! Gonna have to open another keg of rum and get the killing on. lol.
