they remind me of supra's they make nice dyno numbers but they cant get down the track very well

215-230whp in a car that weighs under 3000lbs should be better than a mid to high 14 imho

haha coming from an SRT-4 owner. HILARIOUS!

How much power did it take the SRT-4s to get into the 10s?

You are right though, a lot of FWD cars have the supra can't hook for **** syndrome. But once they[supras, high powered FWD cars] do hook up, they become very fast cars.

When I said "he" and "his" in my previous post, I was talking about the stupid fuckstick I raced, he can't handle the power of a Yugo. I know one SRT4 owner and he is a stand up guy and an outstanding driver. The one I know would hand me my ass in a bag and at least have the courtesy of asking, "paper or plastic?" He is pretty heavily modded and lives in Cali, so it won't happen anytime soon. But none-the-less it will happen. The kid I raced is the one that said "It's this years model". I assumed he meant 06. BTW there is no 06 Neon SRT4, so I guess that means you are WRONG. In 07 it will be the Caliber SRT4 that looks to be quite a bit beefier than the Neon (it has 300hp and would kill an SS without even flexing). Bet you wish you would have waited!

Can't get down on the track? Is beating the coveted Skyline (an 801hp car) by 7 seconds in the time attack not getting down on the track? Yeah, the Cobalt had about half the horses, and it is a road coarse. I guess what I'm trying to point out is that it isn't all about going in a straight line really fast for 1/4 of a mile all the time. Check out www.scca.com, find a local club, race a few solos and find out what it's all about. I love the overall handling of my car. I hope to see more SRT4's doing club racing like that this year. It really dosen't cost that much and you meet a lot of good drivers and some bad ones too. All in all it's alot of fun!

it took the srt4 500 something whp to get into the 10's

anwyas i went 13.9@102.6 bone stock...spare tire, sun roof, and kicker sound package
and my 60ft was a 2.3..and that was my only time gonig down the track when i was stock.....fkn long ass lines at houston raceway park

most cobalts i see hit 2.260fts still run mid to high 14's

I thought the ten second pass was done with 470WHP? I cannot remember where the dyno numbers are but given it was a S3 turbine with a 50 shot to break 400 alone was a small miracle, LOL! But then if I dumped that amount of money into my car I should hit 600WHP no problem, LOL! Nothing was left alone except the s3 turbine, everything else was custom and a few 1 off pieces as well......he really taught us all that it takes more than power with our cars to get down the track, suspension and overall vehicle tuning are key.

500whp and the car still weighed right about 3100lbs w/ driver.

You put that in the 1/4 mile ET & MPH calculator and you get 10.69@132.78.

The car actually ran a 10.89@129.30, that's not too far off. AND the driver said there was still more in the car, if it would have hooked up better off the line (turns out one of the coil-over shocks was blown, so the car was moving around more than it should have).


If you put 230 and 3100 (stock SRT-4 w/ driver) in the calculator you get 13.85@102.52. MANY SRT owners have managed to run close to that (and some below that) with the stock power level.

If you put 205 and 3100 (stock Cobalt SS w/ driver) in the calculator you get 14.39@98.67, so it appears that the Cobalt IS running the times it should.

unfortunatly thats not representative for the HP we are putting down ...so we are still slower than our real HP would sudgest ... but not the rated HP

Well both cars seem to be putting down 10-15 more hp at the wheels than their rating suggests, so I'd say it's about even.

Do you have a decent camera? Mine kinda sucks but it's functional. I gave him 6 weeks and no mods to get ready. I think it was pretty stupid of him to come up and rev, then after it was done he said he wasn't ready! Plus asking me "what is that", I still can't believe he didn't even know what his car was competeing against. Was it an insult or just plain stupidity? Anyway, this is set for Sat. May 13th. Meeting @ 9:30pm at the 7-11 (South Kent) across from the A&W Drive In. I don't know where the runs will go down, have to scout the industrial area for cops since it is a hot bed for racing. hope to see you there. Yea I am einstein. He dyno'd 276whp. Do a search. Anyone who comes in here downing our cars when they don't own one, is a troll. That's why. You don't need to be talking about what is and is not impressive mister high 13 second car.

276whp was with the 2.6" pulley Which is the same pulley he ran the 12.94 with. Lol, so which is the high 13 and which is the low?

Well, not that yours will run this, but I saw one at my local track run consistant 13.8's @102mph with 1.8 60's. I couldn't figure out why he wasn't faster? Good luck though.
