SS Cobalt v. SVT Focus

So yesterday on the way home. This hot looking Bright Orange SVTF came flyin up on my ass on 100east. So I stepped on it and figured what the hell. He continued to fly past me. and well lets just say I had no chance. None at all, I floored it. 120 mph. and nothing 6-7 car lengths on me. Anyone else ever raced an SVTF.

you have the 2.0 or 2.4? That SVTF was a competition orange with the Euro appearance package. They made less than 100 of them. They are very nice.

They really made less than 100 of them? That's interesting. Never heard that. We must have a disproportionate amount around here because I've seen several in the last few years.

Cool... thanks for the info.

EDIT:

I found a link with the production numbers for SVT Foci, and it looks like they actually built ~473 Euro Package Competition Orage SVT's between 2003 and 2004, if you include the 51 5-door cars.

Well, if he was already going faster than you when you stepped on it you were already playing catch up so dont feel too bad. They only havee 175 hp but are manual. It would have been a little closer had you both started side by side at the same speed. He had the unfair advantage.

I have raced a SVTF blue 3 door and I smoked him. We were just getting on the I94 and the onramp is two lanes wide, put it to the floor and that was that. I only took it up to about 100 and then laid off. He got along side of me and he couldn't even look over towards me cause he felt the burn. By the way I have a stock black SS/SC.

he had a momentum, thats why he pulled away, race him from a dead stop, i beat one of the orange svt 3 door focus' with my old base 2.2 cavalier 5-speed, i beat him by a wheel, i did have intake, header, cat-back. we raced my wifes ss 2.4 sedan and smoked my cavalier from a dig!

My best friend has an SVT Focus and its modded (Intake, CB Exhaust, Underdrive Pulley and Lowered) and its a quick car running 15.6 in the 1/4. He's pushing around 195hp and its a good run honestly, but once I start to boost theres no chance.

Playing catch up is never easy, just keep that in mind!

2.4 SSs even with light mods should be able to handle SVT Foci. I have run a few with varying levels of mods and have walked them.

That's a pretty good way to describe them. SVT did a good job w/ the suspension, but now that the SRT, SS/SC, and MS3 are around, they can't keep up in the power department. When they first came out, they were comparable to the cars in their class, though. (Spec V, Civic Si, etc.)

It's too bad Ford doesn't sell the Focus RS here in the states. It would be the perfect competitor for the SRT and the SS/SC. But, just like Chevy, Ford likes to leave some of it's best stuff in the European and Australian markets and leaves us out.

Its cause he did the standard ricer flyby! From a dead stop or even roll he wouldn't have killed you like that. Next time catch him even and try it and see what happens. You may not win but you won't be smoked either.

They can run 12s with tom's turbo kit. On stock internals.
