ive never run against one. nor am i familiar with what they do the 1/4 mile time in. but i imagine that they can scoot. they are pretty light , and have 240 horses (depending on year model). but the torque is where we kill them. im interested to see what others say / know.

well, ive ran against one but didnt realize that he was gonna go until he gunned it (we were at a light), but he put liek 2 cars on me off the line and wen i realized he went i took off and tried to catch him and i was reeling him in slowly and we had to shut down dead even, i was stock at the time and im guessing he was too. Also a few things i know about the car, they are beastly off a launch with their rwd, some even have LSD so watch out off the line with your wheel hop. Also they dyno around 200 to the wheels, stock which is a little less than us. There torque numbers make me gag tho, around 145. Im not sure about the weight tho youll have to check up on it, im too lazy, but all in all i would go for it, if you can drive, then theres nothing to worry about, just dont get all choked up wen he ***** on u off the line. good luck

They can be tricky but Ive taken one (with atleast exhaust) from a low roll (about 10 to 15 after a light) and by 110 I had 2 cars. That was with the stage 2 but no 2.8 and intake.

The cars launch really good because the don't have a ton of torque to spin the tires with and rwd transfers the weight really well. Also, there vtec is mean, It feels like a damn turbo kicking in. S2000's are also great at cornering, low center of gravity and light weight.

It should be really even. If you can drive well then you should be able to take him by just a little bit. My father in law has a s2000 and that **** halls ass.

A buddy of mine is looking to buy an S2K. We test drove a 2003 model just yesterday, and both of us agreed that it didn't seem to pull as hard as the Cobalt through the first 3 gears (in which the S2K at the top of 3rd was around 92-93). It does have serious pimp factor, though, and it owns almost any car on a track. Also, when they went 2.2l in 04, they gained a lot of mid-range punch. I haven't driven one of those yet, though, so I can't really compare.

About the wieght, they are around the 2600 lb mark. Just a shade heavier than the Miata. My buddy has one with Invidia Exhaust, PRM inatake, and slight tune, and rapes almost anything dumb enough to roll on him.

Has he had it weighed? Everywhere I read, they are between 2800-2900, with the later models being a tad porkier.

Like I said in the previous post, around 2600 lbs. I could be a little off, I've been wrong before, it probably around the 2700-2800 dry weight mark. That still pretty darn light by today's standards, no?
