SS/SC Vs. Integra Type R

While heading to the Pavs (AZ guys know what I'm talking about) last Sat. I ended up at a light with a Yellow 1998 Integra Type R. I'm pretty sure I've seen the same car around and I'd wondered what they could do. I hopped on the hohokom expressway and he pulls up next to me. At this point I was on the phone with an SRT-4 buddy of mine that I was meeting at the Pavs. I told him there was a Type R next to me that looked like it wanted to race since it was doing about 4k revs @ 50 mph right next to me. My buddy told me not to mess with it cause it would kick my ass, so of course curiosity got the best of me and I told me buddy I had to go, then I threw my phone on the passenger seat.

I was in 3rd at around 50 mph or so which isn't the best spot in the SS's powerband, but good enough. He made the first move and got a bit of a head start and I followed suit. I reeled him in in a couple of seconds and at the end of third I was a bus ahead or so(didnt bother with 4th cause it was a bad enough beating). After the run I called my buddy back and told him the results and he was surprised. I raced the dude a couple more times in third while talking to my buddy on the phone and after about 2 or 3 more runs the kid had had enough and just paced behind me for a while.

I looked up the specs on those cars and it seems that they have around 190 BHP@7200 rpms. It's no wonder he got wasted. The car also had an exhaust of some sort but other than that I can't say. I'd imagine he at least had a CAI as well. Very clean, nice looking car, but not enough to hang.

Heh, with no cars but us two in sight and not needing to shift since I was going from 55-70 or so it's not that big of a deal. And if you have something against street racing...then don't come to the war stories threads.

war stories is not all about street racing. some people actually value their lives and the lives of others and race at the track where it matters.

I'll repeat myself one more time for you since you had a hard time following me the first time around...

THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE ON THE ROAD BESIDES US.

The war stories thread may not be exlusively for street racing only...but it's pretty difficult to find a thread that's not about street racing.

Okay I've seen this too many times. DC52NV you keep mothering these guys about their driving.

1 they aren't going to listen

2 unless they're taking stupid risks it really isn't that dangerous to anyone but the racers

3 All it takes is a little common sense and everyone will be save though it is still ilegal and you could argue the point that speeding is very dangerous but i bet you that you speed and have no problem with it.

Dont want to make anyone angy here just stating what i have seen.

Thank you for having a little common sense chevypowerd.

Yes I know street racing is dangerous and Illegal. But there is a reason I havent been caught and havent been in an accident. I don't take stupid risks that will endanger myself or the people around me. That isn't to say that I may never get caught, because I know that it could happen.

last time i checked this was an open forum. alot of people don't agree w/ everything someone does. what's so wrong about me saying i think street racing is wrong? i have been very good lately in not putting my $.02 in other street racing threads but this one was something else. street racing while on the phone? c'mon, that's just over the top.

there are tons of tests that have proven that talking on your cell phone and driving is dangerous. it was even proven on the show "mythbusters".

dude don't start with this "i hope you get caught racing with your cobalt" **** again. you have absolutely no reason to come on these forums and hope people get in trouble for racing when you specifically praise people on that rsx forum you go to for winning street races. you sir, need to get a life

While there are plenty of threads (with pictures) depicting horrible outcomes with street racing, there are very few of us on these forums that don't "play" from time to time. There are always going to be some COWBOY that races anyone...anywhere and that we can't prevent. We can only hope that most of us use some sort of common sense as to when and where we mash the throttle.

I'm an old man but I still enjoy spanking some matre de in his C230 compressor that thinks he has the world by the ass. BUT, most of my play is on the strip.

I bought the SS as a daily driver that I can have a bit of fun in, and I do have fun in it. But it's always within reason. I would never put any others around me at risk because of something stupid that I did. You guys think I've got a bunch of kills right? Well I can't tell you how many more potential kills I've had to turn down because the conditions weren't safe enough to have a run. It is amazing to me how little disregaurd a lot of drivers have for the people around them on and off the roads and I won't have any of that.

I have my fun, but only when the time is right.
