They're stock 3300-3400 lbs, 12-15% powertrain loss
300 bhp @ 5xxx rpm
320 btrq @ 4500 rpm
thats roughly 260 whp
265 wtrq
I just raced a stock 06 auto GT. I'm on a 3" w/ full 3" exhaust, meth, and custom tuned. 2ND GEAR at 40 he pulled roughly half a car, and in 3rd I pulled on him hard up to 3 or more cars before we shut down.
Your on a 2.8, so your 2nd gear should out trq him if your tuned right.
From dig it's a drivers race, but he will most likely win w/ a better launch. If you miss a gear shifting from a roll or dig, you will lose.

You gain roughly 100bhp with a stage 2 kit and bolt ons on the SS/SC? I didnt think you gained quite that much. I think the SS/SC is probably around 250whp or so, the Mustang puts down around 265whp stock with the torque being equal or alittle more.

As some have already indicated, you should have a slight advantage it being a roll race. From a dig you'd have to focus on getting a good hole shot and avoiding wheel hop. Make sure you take a peek under the hood to make sure he's not modded. I've never had much respect for the regular Mustang GT, even less considering how close the new Camaro V6 engine specs aren't too far behind the Mustang's V8 specs.

Eat ****!
Even out of the hole if the SS is behind he can catch up! I have done it when I had my street tires, he was like 1-2 cars ahead because my tires were roasting and I still caught up and past him. GT mustangs are crap, sorry if you have one but I hate them!

I was hoping during the next restyling of the Mustang (2010 or 2011 I think I read) they would bump up the HP of the base V8 some. From what I understand its being carried over, maybe a 5 HP increase. I do respect the numbers the supercharged V8s from Ford put out, all those forged internals allow all that boost, but I'd like to see better numbers considering its a F/I V8.
Depends on how fast you two are taking it up to. If I remember correctly, the Mustang is governed at a lower MPH than the SS so I'm sure eventually you'll catch him.
I agree that the GT Mustangs are over-hyped, but look at the success Ford has had with them. A V8 that's just barely better than its Japanese V6 competitors, has over 100 HP LESS than its domestic competitors (the big V8s in the current Corvettes and Challengers/Chargers), and yet somehow they're the only domestic car company that hasn't needed a Gov't bailout?
As little as I care for the Mustang GT, you have to give Ford credit, they've managed to convince a LOT of people that the Mustang GT is more of a car than it actually is IMO (300 HP V8, live solid beam rear axle to name a couple of deficiencies).

I haven't had the ***** to take her to the track yet since its my daily driver and even though its a daily driver and clutch-leg is a bitch in rush-hour traffic, I had to go with the M6. A slushbox in a musclecar just doesn't seem right to me, no offense.
