OK! I was gonna post this, I raced against my buds GLI T last night in the industrial park,it had a few strait ways five stop signs and 6 twisties,on the runs he was a bumper ahead of me always,on the twisties I was killin him.I could not get the traction I wanted off the stop signs(wheelhop).I won the coarse in the end, but I'm a better driver,we should not be beating these guys stock

I own a 2.0T Jetta GLI and it is fairly quick, but not blinding by any means. I used to own a Redline and I would say from 30-70mph the GLI is just a tick off the mark when compared. Some mags rate it from 6.3-7.0 0-60 and I have seen quarters anywhere from 15.1 to 15.7. It should be good, but dont expect much.

Question, what about the 2004 GLI's? My step brother has one and i beleive it is actually a 1.8 T

He has some money in his car but there just bolt ons and its still the stock turbo with a reflashed computer. You think he has me?

hehe, it was pretty expensive, but I think it was well worth it. At least when compared to my old redline and SRT-4. Not the fastest kid on the block, but a damn nice ride while your getting there. As for chips and these new 2.0T, they are really responsive. your average chip (APR, GIAC, REVO, EIP, NEUSPEED) and a turboback with some kind of intake will net you 13.8 at 102, which for this tank is quite impressive.

Nah, not even close, not with your S2 at least. but it can be decievingly quick if your sleepin on it. with the 1.8, Big turbo or go home.

How do they two stack up? Is there really a world of difference between the two?

I'm curious because i know there heavy, but my stepbrother hits like 22 psi and the thing really feels fast when i ride with him. And i know they have rediculous torque numbers.

I just want to make sure i do my homework. It sucks to lose a race to a family member because they never let you forget it!

Yes they have lots of torque. There are a few cars on the 'Tex with about 100 tq than hp and some almost double their hp

You can see that there is a difference of roughly 20hp and 30-40 lbs. 2.0T is a great little motor with a big future. plus the GLI gets bi-xenons stock, I love that.
