35 roll is PERFECT. Sitting in 2nd... 35 is right where you SC just kicks your car in the ass and gets it moving FAST!

60mph is definately bad... that is right before you shift in 2nd... and just out of the good pulling powerband of 3rd...

and 80... No need for that... but you should be pretty good in 3rd at that point to make it a close race.

But a 35 roll, you have the BEST chance of taking him. That is what I would race from. Save 75-80 rolls for a$$holes on the interstate. There really is no point. But all this is how things work in my eyes.

my buddy has a 06 wrx and we've dont rolls from 20, 40 and 60. From the first two runs were pretty much even. He may of had the slightest lead. From 60, I had him by a car and a half to 120. Hes no STi but hope this helps. Rock em!

mmm well I dunno bout that cus I mean I work with a dude that owns an evo and they are nearly the same car with the sti having slightly more overall power and even he said that evo's average 240ish awhp stock (evo 9 referenced) and less power with the previous years. the sti is a heavy man so I mean the ss has a good chance and some just don't want to believe it.

I could just go ask the guys at dyno comp they are litterally within walking distance of me right now

If you do happen to go from a dig, make it 0-30, and go in reverse. That'll help make up for lost traction.

Why is there any question. Simply put the STi is a faster car.

You can try all kinds of stupid tactics to give yourself an advantage, a 141mph roll, a race up a hill, racing with your eyes closed, in reverse, in neutral rolling down a hill, etc.

13.0 stock > 13.9 modded.

do you know how sti's or evo's get such fast times? yeah I am sure they don't always drive their cars like that ... if they do they need to throw some cash my way cus I could put that money to use.

please show me a stock sti running 13.0, please, and then how are you going to generalize that all sti's run XX.XX and all stage 2 balts run XX.XX.

I only race from a dig, why do most of you other SS/SC owners only race from a roll?makes no sense.

Adding a 2.8 pulley , and tune up from Rob like u said .....I would race him . At best its toss up if the ST1 is stock . You "should" have a solid 103-105 mph in the 1/4

While yes I do agree the STi's are capable of a 13.0'ish ET stock , I have yet to see with my own eyes one go faster than a 13.4 in a stock one .

If ya do lose , I garantee he wont beat you near as bad as he thinks he's gonna beat you . Jus dont screw up driving

ok i just saw proof of the tested 13.0. cant argue with that. i still say the cobalt with his mods will win from a roll though. look at trap speeds as somewhat of an indicator. i will gladly video tape any stock STi that wants to run me from a roll. you gotta keep in mind that yes it is a 13.0 car but look at the stats, yes this is magazine racing but thats all we have at this time.

sti= 300hp, 300 ft. lbs of torque, weight 3315 lbs., AWD. quarter 13.0@ 103.5

SS/SC= roughly 250 hp, 240 ft.lbs of torque, weight 2950 lbs, FWD. quarter (with a good driver) 13.5-13.6 at 105-106.

how is this a land slide victory for the STi? i would bet the ss wins this one, and im not being a fan boy, simple conclusion based on data and real world experiences of mine

I never said it was a land slide for an STI, but it isn't a land slide for an SS/SC either. You can't compare trap speeds either because trap speeds are effected by traction. Honestly stage 2 with 2.8 should have the advantage from the ever so popular roll, depending on the mph.

but there in is the issue. traction. hell I see mags doing dig races, roll races and ... 5mph to 100mph races ... so if anything I would say race the sti from EACH stand point. dig, roll and street start (5mph).
