My brother in law is fairly good tho, from what little I've seen him actually race. I've only seen him run once from a dig, but he managed to pull off a flat 2.0 60', mid-RPM launch with a smooth roll up to WOT. That's why I want to extend the run to a half mile, let me get a chance to overcome what I think will probably be a 2 car jump off the line.
EDIT: I'm not terribly crappy at launching but not stellar either

I can pull 2.0 with my GTO on street tires.
A friend of mine pulls 1.6-1.7 in his near stock 1998 Eclipse GSX. It's almost funny really beacuse that kind of 60ft kills the competition then he runs high 14's.

Unlike the STi fanboy BS'ers on this site the kid was rather nice. His car seemed to have a few mods and he also had some nice monitering gauges in a 3- pod pilar.
I played with the same car in my SS/SC S2 and he kept up froma roll for a while but could still get me from a dig.

Most people who own STi's and EVO's rely on you thinking they are rockets off the line. Truth is most people who own them cannot launch them good enough to kill a well launched FWD.
I think it's fun watching STi's and EVO's launch, especially when 15 minutes later you can still smell clutch in the air.
Launching in a AWD is just like handling it's only better if the driver is worth a ****.

^^^ Agreed 100%, and base WRX drivers are even funnier to watch when they mess up the launch

Laughs... sometimes you wonder about some people and their insationable need to bs their way through everything. Next we will hear about a cobalt 2.2 ripping the hell out of a F14 Tomcat Jet Fighter.

Thanks for the info, *filed*, I never was totally sure what a good launch in an AWD was (although 2.0 sure looked fast when I saw it). That probably means I'm worse at launching than I thought... oh well, I have a free saturday and an open parking lot, practice here I come!
