You act as if the 2004-2005 is so much better it has what 15HP more and the LSD does nothing so please don't mention it.

15 more is 15 more, some of us have paid 200-600 for gm stage 1, and its about 15 more hp. deal with it.

Nothing may have changed at all. the LSD sure thats a difference, but could that extra 15 be from just a change in the way they rated them? Often with many cars even one of the non supercharged cobalts when moving from 1 year to another you see changes in HP and torque, even though nothing was changed in the car itself. Its just the way they are rated changed or something along those lines. If they did change something in the SRT-4 for 04-05 what did they change to make the extra 15 hp? I mean also the cobalt is rated at 205 % 5500 RPM. WTF is w/ that where EVERY dyno I have seen shows its peak power at 6500 RPM stock.

Also HP is overrated. Lets say I had a car that had 200 HP from 3000 RPMS - 9000 RPMS constantly. Then lets say I had another car that had 270 HP peak at 6200 RPMS but at 4000 rpms it was 190 HP and at 3000 it was 160 HP. Which car would win in a race?

Yes that is an over exagerated example, but there are many things that lead to a successful race, and it not always is determined by HP and TQ #'s. Gearing, weight, HP curve, torque curve, etc all matter. I think a better way to measure horse power would be AVERAGE HP, as peak really means jack squat.

One big advantage Stage 1 gives the cobalt are those extra 500 RPMS. Sure there may not be 100 HP extra in those 500 RPMS but its enough to where most cars are going to shift before you and your going to be making big power for that much longer.

When I was relatively stock (CAI and shifter) and my buddy Jayson ( 04 SRT-4, CAI and mopar shifter) and I would almost on a daily basis run each other on some back roads...there are some videos around somewhere of it. Anyway, it was usually a drivers race, I would most of the time murder him out of the hole, he would pass me up mid 2nd gear and I would eventually pull on him slightly as he shifted into 4th (I was still in 3rd). I lost just as much as I won though..so I would say the two are pretty equally matched with competant drivers.

He is a damn good driver too. He's run a 13.72 with those mods only on stock tires.

I really hate to make excusses but, one thing that some ignorant people fail to realize is that since the SS/SC has only been out for a little over a year now there is a good chance that the person behind the wheel cannot drive it to its full potential yet.

I can't wait for the realease of the new Caliber SRT-4, a pregnant Vibe looking shoebox.

Wow I can't wait to smoke those too...............

The 2003 SRT-4 is rated at 215hp compared to the 2004-2005 SRT-4 at 230hp. This is due to the 2003's smaller fuel injectors/ Clearing that up for the confusion a posts up.

Don't get me wrong, i love my car, but i think you exagerate when you say an SRT-4 will pull 13.2's with nothing but a BOV and drop-in filter. An aftermarket or mopar BOV doesn't add any horsepower unless the stock BOV has a leak. Some might argue that the HKS SS adds horsepower of sorts, in that it is sequentional blow-off, but that wounldn't add to max HP. Also, our air-boxes wre designed well, and as such, a drop in filter would add perhaps 1 HP max. I have many friends who said they made NO GAINS even with the aftermarket CAI's and short-rams.

Unless your friend has mods he isn't telling you about or is running drag-radials or slicks, i would say he is BSing you: a stock SRT-4 cannot run 13.2's. Now, with that said, i am completely ready to eat crow if i see some video that shows different.

Sounds a little weird to me too. The thing is, he also said that his friend would tinker around with the stock setup to make things go his way. I remember reading about a trick where you take something off dealing with vacumm lines, and you'll easily hit 20 pounds of boost. Haha

A Dodge SRT4 Caliber is rated the same 0-60 as the SRT4 Neon, it has 300BHP cuz of its weight...

It will still be fast, I HIGHLY doubt you will be "SMOKING" them, maybe slightly beating them and thats it...

The Caliber SRT-4 won't be running with the Neons, I had a real car with 300HP.
