I have had them all Lt1's LS1's and LS2's.
I raced my stock SS/SC against my 2002 Camaro SS, the SS/SC lost by bus lengths from a dig or roll.
With Stage 2 from a dig it was a difference of about 6-7 cars from a 40mph roll about 5-6 cars.
Too many people here have no real idea what LS1's and LS2's can do in stock form. They assume the SS/SC will pull harder at high RPM or MPH not realizing that the LSX pulls just as hard at 6000RPM as it does at 2000rpm.
Even a Stage 5 will have problems from a dig with a stock LS1 or LS2. From a roll it might be close but the LS1/LS2 will pull all the way to the speed limiter if it has one. If it doesn't there lookint at 170mph plus top speed.

Yea, my uncle has a w6 package T/A. Let me tell you what, I ran a 14.2 @ 100mph stock at least 4 times in the same day. He still anniliated me when I was stock. I now have stage II, and all the other GM goodies. He pulls on me in first gear, once I hit second I'm right with him. In third were just about even, but by the time we get to that high end hes still in front of me and I'm at his door. Since then hes got headers, and exhaust, now he beats me by a car and he runs 13.3s. I want a turbo W6 T/A so bad!

Your buddy needs to take a course on how to drive a LS1. 13.3 is achievable 100% stock with headers and full exhaust my 2000 SS was in the 12's 96% of the time.

well I have a 01 camaro ss... so same damn thing just slightly lighter then the ws6 (the trans ams weigh a little more) and i will walk all over a stage 2 car... I have, read the "allshot down" thread that I posted yesterday. dont under estimate the power of a strong ls1. By the way, with a good launch my stock ls1 will hit the 12's. and look at my sig for the dyno numbers. also the guy at the shop states his dynojet runs a little low but my numbers were better then average so I am not so sure about that one.
but anyways, we raced.. all i put in was the zzp 2.9 and a cai.i was still only getting 12.5 lbs of boost, but much sooner.. so... i got raped.. by about a bus and a half from a dig. from a 30 roll i actually pulled a little for a second.. i got really excited and thought i had a chance. apparently not. he pulled a mini bus up to 70 and we shut it down. don't race one of those with out some #60's, a 2.7" pulley and maybe even a 50 shot

well the LT1 went in in 93, the LS1 went in in 98, the little better LS1 went in 2001 if i remember, (by better I mean slightly different cam, no EGR, little more power things like that) So what ever year he has you can find out what he has. You Gave it a good try though and all that maters is that you had a good time.

I raced a 99 Camaro SS, with headers, exhaust, intake, and chipped! I got RAPED by about 2 cars!! They just friggin' pull, they do have like 100 hp advantage, and about 150 ft/lbs of torque over us! Unless he just can't drive....can't drive, then you might, maybe........ nah you'd still loose!

I raced a 99 Camaro SS, with headers, exhaust, intake, and chipped! I got RAPED by about 2 cars!! They just friggin' pull, they do have like 100 hp advantage, and about 150 ft/lbs of torque over us! Unless he just can't drive....can't drive, then you might, maybe........ nah you'd still loose!

ive raced several LS1 cars with my SS/SC and only lost very few. from a dig they will get you from a roll is more equal. i beat a 98 Z28 auto, 3500 stall loudmouth exhaust, tune, 3.73's ect... it was a very close race but i edged him out 2 of 3 races. i also handed my buddies 2000 corvette his ass im stock pullied, with a 3inch exhaust, XTC intake and a 75shot. i beat the corvette on my 55 shot.

i have a vid of me vs. the vette, the races of me vs the Z28 with all the mods he will not give me because he is embarassed my mods are XTC intake, 3 inch exhaust and a 75 shot, i was on a 55 shot while racing the vette.

the video isnt staged or anything, plus i know on my buddies cobra his 125 shot turned into almost 200 rwhp after going through the blower. im assuming our cobalts react the same. i went 13.8@105 with a bad clutch. the corvette went a best of 13.0 give or take a 10th. i have no reason to fib or stretch the truth, my cobalt is my daily driver, i use my camaro's to race normaly. sometimes its just fun to play with the balt. but whether it makes sence or not, the evidence is right infront of you, even if you look at the tach in the vette he launched from a good RPM, and even when he got in the upper RPMs i was still pulling. the 1st 2 runs where off the bottle BTW
