unexpected race against 300C HEMI
well I was just sitting at a red light yesterday when a Chrysler 300C HEMI pulls up and starts eyeing my SC.... I give him a head nod of acknowledgement... he's very stern, I nod again...this time he nods back. I have the tunes crankin' and light a smoke.... the light changes, I start squeezing into the throttle... he's still along side me, I squeeze more... and more.... I'm WOT!!! I bang second WOT, wheelspin... we're still side by side.... bang 3rd WOT, some wheelspin (mind you it's -20 degrees here). I run side by side w/ him up to 80mph (35 mph zone), I back off and he keeps flyin'
I was not planning on racing him... I briefly banged the limiter in 1st and 2nd (not realizing cause the tunes were too loud), shiftin w/ cigarette in hand.
Today I pull up some specs on the 300C HEMI and was amazed at how fast the are (at least on paper)>>>> here is Road & Tracks #'s on the 2005 300C Hemi:
At the test track, our radar gun recorded the 300C sprinting to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds, well under Chrysler's own estimate of 6.3. In the standing-start quarter mile, a 300C will outrun several respectable sports cars including the Nissan 350Z, along with some full-size luxury heavy-hitters like the Lexus LS 430 and Infiniti Q45. Indeed, its 14.1-sec. clocking at 101.1 mph would make a Porsche Boxster S driver leery about racing for pink slips.
He was unable to pull me regardless of my crappy shifts.
So in retrospect.... I think the SC did pretty good , even though I was not in race mode!

Yea, one surprised me at a stop light on the way to work one day. He was to my left and had his right flasher on. I inched up cause well I didn't want to wait behind this huge car as it made a right hand turn at the next light. It turned green and he pulled half a car off the line, after we hit 40 I backed off. He's a lot larger and seemed to be in a hurry.
