I ran a friend of mine in her stock 06 G6 GTP 6-speed when I had my 2.4 auto cobalt. I was running just a CAI at the time... we were within a few tenths of eachother at the track.

Nice cars... but not that fast... and no aftermarket support.

i read in a motortrend that they had the 6 speed G6 running low low 15's. I know thats not the best way to judge a cars speed, but i think that shows that the GTP is decently quick with the right driver.

edit to my last post, car mags are saying 14.6-15.0 flat in the 1/4. I think its pretty respectable since it weighs almost 3600 lbs.

and the 3.9 g6 is also on there lol

Yeah G6 got the short end of the stick. I had a 2005 G6 and I had all the mods possible. Intake/Exhaust/and carbon fiber everywhere/HIDs. Thats all they have.

Even HPTuners doesn't touch the older model 3.5Ls.

But with HPTuners your could squeeze more power out of all the motors, and retune that sloppy auto tranny that they have.

Here is my Old G6: It was also voted PFYC.com's Car of the Month last May or June when I got rid of it.

Yeah that's probably a real accurate test. The difference between the fastest and slowest is .6 seconds in the quarter. Especially if you consider Motor Trend got a 14.4 out of the SS, which would bring it up to tie for 3rd on that list, and someone on this site got a 14.1 which would make it the quickest of all of them (Although to be fair, people have probably bested that with some of the other cars tested as well). Whenever there is comparisons like these in magazines, the margin of difference is so small, I guarantee that the ranking order is decided before they even get into any of the cars.

Not that it was the point of you posting this, but those magazines are annoying sometimes. That's a pretty decent time for the G6 GT. I would bet that the GTP should be at least a few tenths quicker.

edit: Sorry, just realized that that C&D list was based off the 0-60 times. That may be a little more accurate, but who cares about 0-60 times?

I have one and i don't think they're under-rated.. cause they are not.
just cause one guy puts down 215 dosen't mean yours will. plus you really cant compare #'s from different dynos.

for every guy that did more than 205, theres another that did less.
true, almost all dynos and cars are slightly different but i know i put down 220whp when i was bone stock, that is on a dynojet but after stage 2 i only put down 230 on a mustang dyno and thats when the car is supposed to have 241crank so i do think they are underrated. or maybe when GM did the power rating it was in hot humid temps with 87 octane.

i think that they underrated it, thats why the stage one kit is such a signifcant gain over stock. I'm not the most engine educated, but i dont think that 25 is typical from a manufacturers retune. I could be wrong, and please correct me if I am.
