A base model Camaro handles similiar to a stock GTO, not much better or worse.

A Camaro SS or Firehawk outhandles a GTO by a FAR margin.

Properly setup with aftermarket components, an F-Body will DESTROY a GTO (equally prepped with similiar components) in the handling department.

The GTO pulled a .87 on the stidpad BTW. There's trucks that can do that.

Furthermore, the design of an IRS suspension will in most cases RAISE the center of gravity of the car, reducing it's handling.

Ahhh....good ole research= comparing real world experiences to those of a controlled track tested environment run by and under the supervision of paid professionals.

Despite my love for the cobalt. Reading the other cobalt owners threads make me want to delete these threads sometimes.

We are dealing with teenagers that hang around car shows and "know people". I don't claim to have the MOST experience, but my god some of you guys need to get off the forums sometimes and go have fun.

Skidpad != handling. There's a lot more to it. The best way to do that is to put the two cars on a track, stock for stock, and see which one handles it better. Then do some of the same mods (suspension, anti-sway, STBs) and see which one takes to them better

I've seen SRT-8 Charger win against a local LS2 A4 GTO. Street and track. LS2 goat even had tranny tuned.

tranny tune still is not right, and street was damn close but the charger had a slight edge from a roll due to autostick

A win is a win. From what i hear, my car held up about the same as yours against the SRT8, so we need to meet up this weekend Was PRP open today? I hate working nights.

hey i am not making excuses for that, i am just saying there was more then one run on the street, and if i remember correctly it was 3-2 in favor of the charger

i dont think it would have been open, its been quite wet recently, so id imagine they closed it...

Cause Dodge sucks, and they got bought out so they're going further down the hole. lol

Sorry, not much of a dodge fan, but I will agree that the SRT8's are pretty quick. I will say that I got walked on pretty hard by a HIGHLY modded Chrysler 300 SRT8. This things sounded NASTY. From a stop, he started to pull pretty hard, I held him to about 2 or 3 cars. He exited before I could talk to him though. I did watch him rip out from the next light right in front of me and there was NO wheel spin, the rear jumped up, and she took off. I must admit, that car impressed me a bit.

No Camaro or GTO, but suprising none the less. lol..

So your brother works in the plant where STi's are made? How often do they let him take one right off the line and hit the local drag strip? Green engines are the best for 1/4 times so make sure he gets into one that hasn't been painted yet. And also since your brother works as a Q/A I'm sure he's seen every single STi to roll of the line since 2004 when they were introduced in the USDM, and has seen every single one of them run at the track bone stock. Do you have video evidence of a GTO going 12.8 stock? I want a complete walk through of the car, I want the camera man to pull the air box just so I can see that it still has the factory paper filter in it. Otherwise your claims have no legitimacy. See how ridiculous what you are saying sounds? I hate to burst your bubble big guy, but some STi's do go 12.9 stock, just like some GTO's go 12.8 stock.

BTW the since u guys were on ur way back from the track that night whos car was running consistent 13.5s @103 and whose car was getting consistently faster down to a 13.2@105.5 without using the proper drag racing technique (tq management still on during shifts...not using the manumatic in 1 method)

Just remember...wes has trapped 109 and has run 13.4

Now were al talking about SRT-8's, not to mention everyone is bringing up bogus stock 1/4 mile numbers.

Half of the " best " stock numbers people are pointing out are bullshit. No stock SRT-8 has gone 12.6 and no stock Cobra has gone 12.3 some of you are just plain idiots.

It's this simple:

- Bone stock vs Bone stock a Auto GTO will be a drivers race for an SRT-8 Charger, the same race with a M6 GTO and the GTO has the edge.

Last night an SRT-8 was going 13.3 all night with a catback. With just a catback and nitto's my GTO ran 12.5.

I don't ever recall where I said every GTO ran 12's... There's alot of drivers that don't really have a clue. Last night was a perfect example of this.
except if you hear of one not running that fast or getting beat, suddenly track conditions, weather, none of that matters. its always a blind hobo with one leg driving

i totally agree that a stage two cobalt is absolutely no match for your car or even the majority of 5.7's and 6.0's. The problem comes when you see video or slips of a legit race and automatically call BS because either it butt hurts GTO guys too much to see it, or they really have no ******* clue how to accept the fact that some cars are just faster or slower than others of the same make and model.
