Y R all the GTO vs SS Threads Locked ?

I am still aquiring parts for my APS TT install....
I will throw it on the stock engine and make some power, but future plans are for a built stroker and a built tranny...
If we could triple the HP on a SRT, we'll see what we can do here, as I like to run 'big boost'.....

LSX block + 408 stroker kit (8.5:1 compression) + twin turbos (large I'm sure, lol) and you'll be on your way to some crazy power. I'd be hessitant to go with a bigger bore (beyond 4.030"), as that's not going to leave a lot of material between cylinders and you'll have issues finding a piston that will give you lower enough compression. Of course, you probably already know all that.... lol.
I guess I'm just voicing what I WISH I could do.......

an AWESOME 60' is a 1.2
Your trying to tell me a car you can still use on the street is capable of a 1.2 60'???
A top fuel dragster that does the quartermile time in 4.5 seconds @ 300+ mph BARELY breaks 0.9 60' time.
I think you are over exaggerating just a smidge.
Look at the NHRA 60' times...a 1.2 is from the cars doing well over 200 mph in the QM.

First off, I wasn't saying cars I'd RECOMMEND driving on the street. Second, I said it was an AWESOME 60' time. There are plenty of Mustangs and F-body's that are streetable (if barely) that run those types of times. Heck, there's a Twin Turbo 455 Firebird out there putting out 2450 horses at the crank that the guy drives to work every day, and there are more 1000-1200 horse cars out there running 1.3's than I could possibly keep up with. Just because you have a high stall and a transbrake doesn't mean you can't drive the car on the highway.

It seems to be hit or miss...
there are some GTO's running 10's on the stock Auto...
While others are seeing failures stock....
I still have the stock tranny in my 637hp SRT...
I'll run the GTO auto till failure..... And I'll throw big power at it...

2450 horse and it's street legal? My ass. Just because he drives it to work don't make it street legal. Not sure how he meets noise levels or emissions standards. Not to mention he must be burning an awful lot of alcohol as there ain't anyway your getting 2500 hp out of pump gas unless your spraying 1500hp worth of nitrous. Twin turbo set up or not. If he's getting that much HP from pump gas he needs to be building motors for John Force. The most HP I have seen or heard of on pump gas was 1800 and that was on a 800 Cubic Inch Donovan block running a lot of nitrous.
OK EDIT!!
I called my buddy who builds top fuel motors...you know the 6000+ HP motors.
And well...He concured...2500hp on pump gas...aint happening and a 2500 hp alcohal car would never be streetable as it would over heat before he made it 10 miles.
As far as 1000 HP cars running 1.3's? So you are saying a top fuely running 5000+ more HP is only getting .4 second faster 60' times?????
I would never call BS because I'm not there...but it certainly sounds a little sketchy man.

I find it funny how people never question the Supra's 3.0L and (usually) 1400 horses and yet the do question that an engine more than double it's size could put out 55% more power??!?!?!?!
I didn't expect to see last gen GTO's get 1.5's, let alone lower. My whole point was that their rear suspension isn't setup well for low times.
Drag racing, like most things, isn't a linear equation, It takes nearly double to run 10's as it does to run 11's, for instance. So, YES, .4 might seem like a small amount of time, but it is 30% quicker. Look at what speed does in the quarter as times drop, surely it's far, far from linear.
Thing about the fact that the turbo ecotec funny cars (RWD) are putting out 1450 horse and running 6's, while 6000 horse engines are running 4's. 4x the power, yet only 50% faster in the quarter...

I believe it was 110.
Here is a great read for you GTO and non GTO lovers alike.

my cobalt with the airbox mod ran a 9.0 @ 168mph
at the time of my amazing run at atco, i was on the bed of a tow truck that was being dragged behind a stock ls2 gto

the cobalt is the most undeniably fast car ever. not even a gt500 or z06 can withstand it's might.
