LOL yeah i seen lot them around here with a fart can and customs wheels driving hard and stuff as soon the see the intercooler and big wing on my ss. they slow down and start driving like grandpa. .. the fear infliction is something nice!

On the SS/SC it is a heat exchanger. But yes they can be used for SC application.

Manifold replacement/positive displacement superchargers 9 times out of 10 use a heat exchanger incorporated into the base. Where othe belt driven centrifical superchargers tend to use a aftercooler/intercooler since they usually retain the stock intake manifold.
And like others have said there are two different types of both also air to air and air to water.
