i've seen this question asked so many times with answers on both sides of the fence...i know there are people on the site running 245's on the stock tc rims though. ive seen at least 2-3 that i know of and i know i read one of them reporting no rub. that being said i'm sure every tire isn't the exact same so idk about rub. but 245 width will fit i'm pretty sure....

245 on a 7.5 rim just doesnt sound safe to me. Im going to be rolling on 235/40r/18 lowered on stance coils this summer.

245 is not dangerous on a 7.5 at all.

I've been running a 235 on a 7 now for years and it works excellently.

I've always been told a 245 on a 8inch rim was questionable. I haven't personally seen them mounted before.

I've run 235's on my tc wheels. And 245/255's on my mille wheels. With how my 235s fit my tc's i would imagine 245's would fit no problem.

Go for it if you like sloppy steering and poor handling. You probably won't win any auto crossing events but it might work for drag racing.

Tire manufacturers spec at least an 8" wide wheel for 245/40R18. That doesn't meant it won't squeeze on a 7.5" wide wheel, but it does mean that the bead is not designed to be stable on the narrower wheel and is unsafe. If the car was a trailer queen, that would be one thing but for any car that has to turn, you run the risk of tearing the bead under lateral load and destroying the tire....

People lately are really over playing this.

Larger tires are not negative until its like 4 sizes too wide.

I have 245's with no issues. What are you looking for? If its handling then its probably not the best tire size. If straight line performance is your goal then I can say that mine work very very very well. NOTE. I have Nitto NT05's which have a reinforced side wall and its stiff. I would not do this with some shitty tire.

I ran 245/40/18 StarSpecs which run wide on 8" OZs on both my cars, they fit the OZs fine, they didnt rub at all on the front with pedders, and only rubbed in rear with people in back or over BIG bumps at speed. Not enough to worry about. Its too much tire for a street driven Balt imo though.
LS Pedders

SS, stock springs and gutted:

id go with 235's, 245's will fit but wont have much improvement over the 235 on a 7.5" rim your just spending extra money.
