Worst Carwash EVER!

I went to this car wash to get my car all nice and clean.

In order for me to get my car "lined up" with the tracks I had to make a really tight turn. Anyway, as I make the turn, I realize I am still going to be about a foot off from lining up with the tracks.

I let the clutch up to let the car roll back, and the attandent was like "nah nah your good just pull up" so I do, and as I do, I feel the front of the tire tap the track. So I again let the clutch up and start to roll back.

Again, he insists I'm fine, so I again pull forward. Again my tire bumps the track and he is still waving me forward. So I give it a little gas, and all of a sudden, the left front tire (the one in question) raises up and then drops back down, I am fairly sure I just banged the rubber.

So I tell the attendant I wanted a full wash (including rims) He reaches down and cleans all the rims, and them I get pulled through the car wash (this is one of the ones you sit in your car)

I get home (this place is about an hour away from me, a stopped there after leaving a friends house out of state) and talk a look at my car, and this is what I see: (pics below) Man, am I pissed. I don't know what to do. Obviously, the carwash "Cannot be held responsible" but as far as fixing this.

Can the wheel just be repainted. I am pretty sure there is no really damage to the wheel, I believe the paint is just scrapped off. I really don't want to have to buy a new wheel.

Anybody have any suggestions With prices?

Thanks,
Rich

^^^^^^^^ And that's why you don't take your SS through a regular car wash.

Sucks. But those things are notorius for eating rim edges. Good luck gettin that fixed.

I goto this one car wash in Summit,NJ where I work about once a week. That place is the best.

Trust me ppl is summit,nj would raise hell if a car wash was effing their Mercedes and BWM rims...

I guess that what I get for being on podunk-ville.

i will never take my car to an auto wash. Spray bay and hand wash all the way. My mom took her brand new Jeep Cherokee through one and it sliced both her tires. Luckily they paid full damage.

but sorry about the rims nontheless.

and thats the only way i go as well. I dont want anything more to touch my car then it has to.

but if i was you i would write a complaint to the carwash and express your views on them clearly. You never know what they will do until you try. and im sorry bout the rim. That sux big time.

I found this out also. I bumped a curve turning a corner & it just seemed like the tire bumped it. Nope, the rim got scratched up. I will have to redo the rims sometime in the next year also. It wasn't as bad as his picture though.

That sucks, was it just one wheel? I only take mine to the carwash in the winter when it's too cold out and I have my steelies on. Let us know how you fix it and how much it costs.

Yeah its just the one wheel that bumped when I went in.

My Local chevy dealer quoted me $625.99 for a new wheel... ef that... I guess I am just screwed for now.

Edit: I might see if I can grab a wheel off of ebay.

I used to believe in automatic carwashes but I can tell you one thing. The ones with the brushes and stuff put the swirl marks on you're paint. Just get the Mr. Clean car wash kit and you won't even have to worry about spotting. Just make sure you change the filter as suggested.

This is why you must take the time and do it yourself.

If you don't have time... just leave your car dirty.

if i don't wash my car by myself (I never get it as shiny as other peoples) I take it to one of those places at the gas stations where they have people wash your car. They still run it through a machine but I haven't had any problems yet. Plus they seem to do a much better job than I do (I think they've got way better products) and they're about 4 hours faster too!

As far as I know there is nobody here in the GTA that can match the factory paint on these rims. Your options are...

1. Buy a new wheel
2. Buy a used one off of EBay
3. Get the dealer to send it up to Michigan to get it refinshed.

Good luck man I feel your pain.
