A review of the ZZP adjustable clutch rod upgrade

First off, I would like to say thanks to Zoomer, and ZZP for this absolutly great produt

I bought this because I have the exedy clutch and flywheel in my car and wanted the ability to adjust the pedel location more so then the upgraded construction of it.

I figured "how bent could mine be" well heres a pic of it in the car and out compared on a table

Go figure it would be that bent! holy crap.

The install of this is actually quite harder then I anticipated it would be. Getting the rod out of the clutch cable end is very hard, it took some persuasion

Initialy I set the adjustments a TAD longer then stock, and it brought the pedel release point back to when I had my stock clutch, which I love, the car is SO much easier to drive in traffic and around town, but when I go to the track, I'm gonna bring the release point back down for faster shifts. That makes the product worht every penny right there! never mind the fact about the upgraded construction so it won't warp like my stocker did!!!

Rating the rod I would give it a 9/10, ONLY reason that I dont give it a 10/10 is the fact that there is no PLANE edge to hold the rod when tightening it down, you have to use a pair of vice grips or plyers. If there was infact two edges on the round rod so you could get a 1/2 or 9/16 wrench on there it would make life easier, but OVERALL im very impressed, ZZP has yet to disapoint me with any products that I have bought.

I would suggest this to anybody in the future as one of my favorite upgrades, thanks ZZP keep up the good work

heres some pics, dont mind my crappy ability to take nice pictures

bump

hey, me and BNS06Mike are trying to replace his clutch rod with this one.... we cant get the master cylinder off by "1. Open the hood and turn the master cylinder to unlock it from the firewall" as it says on ZZP's site.

we had to do the roll pin linkage so we already have the fusebox and tranny mount completely out of the car..... gave us a little more wiggle room. we still cant seem to turn it.

Are we turning it the right way? or do we have to just sack up? or is there some kind of crazy trick to it?

thanks in advance,
Bill

its funny because i bought the thing for the same reason, and after the tech installed the hypersingle and took for test drive today, he noticed the pedal was really low, and he mentioned that the stock clutch rod has NO chance and will fail... So, this mod should be mandatory for any clutch upgrade

ZZP clutchrod FTW

I am glad you guys are liking this product, I hope more people will catch on to it. All of us at the shop use it and it made all of my shifts considerably better. I did this back in the day with my DSM cars and it only made sense for us to do it in this platform. It works exceptionaly well in for the LNF guys that have done a clutch swap and want to get back their NLS. I also helps with missing gears and having unwanted syncro material being pumped through the tranny. Enjoy!

Just thought I revive this thread because I'm expecting one in the mail...could use some more feed back on this install if you guys can help...

1-the guy who couldn't remove the master cylinder because he wasn't sure which way to turn...which way is it?

2-the guys who installed it said it was harder than expected...why? was it hard to pull out the ball joint or the master cylinder or is the master cylinder in a tight spot?

Thanks!

Im doing this right now as my clutch master cylinder went bye bye 4000 miles on the car. Its on PITA from GM so I lucked out and found a new Precision one on EBay for $88 bucks. It was their last one and I tried every auto parts store in the country. When the one comes to the dealer Ill keep it for a spare. I got everything apart but cant get the rod out of the cylinder. Im using the old one to see how to do it. The clip was a bitch also in the pedal but I finally got it with a mini screwdriver after FN around for an hour. Whats the best way to remove the rod from the cylinder out of the car ?
