ZZP Flex Pipe Breaking Info!!!
I just noticed another thread was deleted I assume for vendor bashing but since what I'm posting is actuall info on the subject for people I don't see this as a violation. If so then I will delete this thread or the mods.
The ZZP flex pipe breaking is starting to show up alot now and I have jsut gotten off the phone with ZZP as to this issue.
Here is info stratight from thier site:
**Due to the movement of the engine on WOT shifts, 1 or more solid engine/trans mounts will be required. If they are not used, then the flex sections warranty is voided.
I was told by ZZP they will warranty the downpipe if the flex pipe breaks on stock mounts once. Afterwards you have to have aftermarket mounts to be warrantied.
ZZP Recomends the Rear tranny mount above all else.
Enjoy! and please no bashing I don't want this thread locked or deleted.

this has nothing to do with zzp actually
the saturn motor sports midlength combo also has the issue.. it seems to be an issue with flex pipes/ midlegth combos... when i called saturn to get my combo installed initially they said the same thing zzp is saying now.. so far i've been fine but i'm getting tranny mounts now .. as i increase power more issues will arrive

that was my plan anyway
we used to have issues with the ZZP 3" DP on w-bodies hitting the front anti-swaybar and/or the firewall with stock mounts and sometimes even solid motor mounts.....this would damage the dp of course....the solution was to buy both solid lower motor mounts or flip the anti-swaybar
stock flexpipes on these cars break all the time from shifting hard and I'm surprised mine hasn't cracked with the stock mounts

So the stock one from GM has this issue too???
I know if I buy a new car & the downpipe ***** up they are changing it for free. This would come as bad design. Let them try to prove I beat on it with a perfect driving record for 7+ yrs.

Yeah, the nitrous might have something to do with it as well. I didn't have this problem until I started spraying the car. The original flex on my C/A 3" was starting to leak when I added the nitrous, but it had completely blown out in short order after that. I've since blown out another Vibrant one, and a cheapo one used by some exhaust shop to replace that one. I've spent almost as much replacing flex pipes as I did on the original DP itself

Well that is absolutely bullshit!! The whole reason you put the god damn flex pipe in is because the engine moves. How can they say that they are going to void the warranty when you are using their product on the engine that it was MADE for??? I am really beginning to regret going with ZZP for my Header/DP. So far it has been the worst online buying experience I have had in the last 5 years. BTW, it has now been 15 days since I sent them my money and I have still heard nothing in return.

The flex issue happens a lot because we sell a lot of downpipes. Initially we didn't know why it was happening but then discovered a lot of breakages even on stock downpipes. Any time you add power to a car, it can cause issues that have to be worked around. Add a lot of power, axles have to be changed, change the axles, the clutch needs to be upgraded. Similar here. Add power and you need mounts.

I'm not sure what design is possible to prevent breaking...if they make the dp solid you're going to have a ton of problems with the flanges at the head/dp and dp/cat back.
