Thumbs down ZZP Rattles

So my first whisper resonator was rattling from day one. it would only rattle for a few minutes and then i guess the baffle would expand and not rattle anymore???? Well it gradually got worse to the point where the rattle never went away and it was embarrassing. So I ordered a new one. they said once i got the new one to send in the defective one and I would recieve a refund. WEll yesterday (new one came in today), the "defective" one broke even more! THE INLET CAME OFF. I guess there just wasn't enough tig welding. So until this morning I had an open exhaust .

So i get the new resonator installed this morning and guess what?! RATTLES. Son of a bitch, piece of ****, mother f*****, jc, gd..... (you get the idea). I have 308 dollars plus installation (twice) deposited into this rattling resonator. your talking about 350+ dollars that i have out there right now trying to get a good resonator.

They told me they want me to send both back to them today so they can test on the in-house cobalt. Then the guy will personally send me one that DOES not rattle. Very frustrating considering my order for the first resonator was placed march 11. Thought I would share...anybody considering buying a whisper, wait till this gets fixed!

Does your rattle sound almost like sticking something in the blades of a fan? I installed my resonator and it doesn't rattle but there is a weird sound coming from it.

Sounds like they are doing there best to work with you and get you one that doesn't rattle... ZZP is a good company and will do there best to make you happy (within reason of course).

I know it sucks but have some patience and things will work out

If I didn't have faith in the product that they sell....I wouldn't have bought so many things from them. THey are doing everything they can to resolve the issue, the thread was just to catch the attention of anyone considering getting one soon. I would wait till they figure it out.

No, it sounds like rattle. Like something loose in the resonator vibrating against the metal.

we need everybody having this problem to post up here. they are going to test them on their in house cobalt to find out what the problem is. More complaints then the more urgent they will be to fix the problem.

the resonator is not harmful if its ticking..but the other guy said his welds actually broke....could you imagine going down the road and your welds breaking on your exhaust?

yea, it starts with a rattle, then it gets worse, and before you know it the inlet housing will just fall off and you will have an open exhaust. That was the timeline for my first whisper. I know its a pain to go through this crap, but I would get it fixed. too much money for something to rattle and be embarrasing in drive thrus....

i had a rattling problem that i THOUGHT whas my resonator, but i finally caught the rattle and it was my cat/exhaust rattling agains the underbody, it was hung JUST past the point of contact so when it heated up it would rattle like crazy, and even started to rattle all the time, very embarrasing sound as it sounds like a piece of **** 85 civic or something, i just got the exhaust hangers adjusted and i havent heard it since! i am not saying this IS your problem, but anyone else experiencing the notorious "rattle" make sure you check here first! i made a thread about this, and it has solved the problem for quite a few guys on here now....

my second resonator and it only rattles with a resonator installed. Can't mistake it when the car is up on a lift running and you are standing underneath the resonator. you're lucky though...cograts

it sounds like rattling. If it is making a loud weird noise (even randomly at idle)...then tahts what we are talking about

they got my resonator on tue, and got my second one today (remember I mailed them two, one broken....one was brand new and rattling already). They said they should begin testing tomorrow and try to figure out the problem so they can maybe ship some by the end of next week. Please everybody contact them. I want them to be as urgent about this as I am....My exhaust sucks and I have had to wait WAY TOO LONG. (ordered first resonator 3/11/08)
