Just trying to see if this is the route that I should be going...
It doesn't seem there's a lot of people running it and I'm a little concerned that I'll end up putting it in and blowing transmission # 5.

Cant tell you much about zzp unit. I have one built by IPT, and it has been great. However, I have yet to put any real power through it, so I can't offer a real observation of its durability. Check them out as an option at least.

 

Had an IPT built one... It worked great for about a month and then I was able to get on it and it died the first time I did, started slipping all over the place. Now I'm stuck with a $5000 piece of transmission that doesn't have 1st 2nd or reverse. Hope it works out for you... But they definitely built mine incorrectly. They've been real ass holes over there to me ever since I told them it failed too.

 

Ive been wondering about ZZPs also. Havent recognized anyone on here having it.

5 Transmissions is high lol. I have 80k miles on the stock transmission.

 

First, he has an L61. Second, he is an auto. Third he probably is running more power than you.

lol, that's why you should always look into the situation before assuming...

Trying to look up what shipping my car across the nation would cost versus just shipping my transmission across the nation... But apparently ZZP doesn't have a service to ship the car so I get to go look that one up on my own. Would have thought ZZP would have provided a little more customer service and a little more proof of there transmission being able to do work... I'm really thinking it's not going to be any better than any of the others though without any proof that it will be. Also the Warranty that you have to purchase and even at that still doesn't cover much... Which is more shenanigans if you ask me.

Secondly, most their tranny work gets outsourced to someone rather reputable, has been like that for a while and they don't deny such, since they first started in the w-body scene if I recall.

My buddy's modded Regal GS has over 200k on their transmission now. So your assumption's are poor, not to mention Ryan's 9-second Cobalt is an auto car as well.

 

You're assumptions are also poor as Ryan's cobalt is built by Bates and not by Certified Transmission, Who I know is doing the work... lol another poor assumption on your part. Not to mention Ryan's car is also a 4t65eHD, Research next time

And does your buddy's modded Regal GS run a 4t45e?

 

just to let you know the trans that ryan has in his car now is not the gm racing one but one of our 4t65 that we use in the grand prixs

 

I emailed them a while back about my future build and they said the trans would "handle 350whp just fine".

 

Well I just talked to Certified Transmission and Steve said that there was no way that there 4t45e would be able to hold 400WTQ.

SO I guess that puts an end to that. ****!

 

FYI I was told by ZZP that it would handle 400WHP just fine too...

Except the guys that actually build them know that there's no way they could do that...

Maybe you should invest in a 4t65 swap.

My time in the j-body community tells me a 4t45 wouldn't hold 400ft-lb's, David Ingram's car is a perfect example of that.

 

Yeah that's what I've been doing a lot of looking into on... Except I'm continuously told by ZZP that the 4t45 would be a better option for me...

And that the 4t65 swap would cost about 7-8K

Which is more than my car is worth lmao.

but it looks like it may be my only option at this point unless I just turn everything down to like 8 PSI, get rid of the e-85 and just go buy a stock 4t45e to throw on there. It never had a problem at that power level.

Motor,trans,and rear diff/suspension .The 1st cobalt LS that would be LNF/RWD/soltice swapped .**** it your already in it for alot of scrilla,just go all out haha jk,

 

Bleh... Kinda sucks though. I really wish a built 4t45e was the way to go, but if I want to go fast gotta pay to play. Maybe one day IDK what I'm gonna do in the mean time though.. Let's hope my parents move out and buy another house and they give me this one lol
